As I\’m sure you might have guessed, traffic is very important for almost anything that requires an audience. Something like Quora will not work without traffic. The traffic you get on Quora will be able to help your blog (if you\’re linking to it) gain organic traffic, which you would otherwise pay hundreds of dollars for if done through other methods.
You can basically get traffic by asking questions, answering them or doing both at the same time (which I recommend). I personally like getting traffic by posting answers to questions, because it\’s easier for me to come up with quality content in just a few minutes than it is to ask a question that people will care about enough to answer, then write about the topic and hope that the community likes it.
Do not think traffic will come easy on Quora because you need to put some work into your account if you want traffic (not very much, but still more than posting a link every now and again).
The traffic might be slow at first, but once you get enough followers who like the questions/answers that you post, traffic will start coming quickly. It all depends on how good of a content marketer (salesman) you are in using this platform.
If people feel that what you post is actually helpful they\’ll follow your Q&As or answer them just because they\’re interested in learning more about whatever topic helped solve their own questions.
That being said, I\’ll give a few tips on traffic generation which you can adapt to your own style of writing on Quora.
1 – Answer Questions
Start by answering questions regarding your blog posts (you need at least 5 posts before this becomes effective). Sometimes, even if you haven\’t written a post about something people will still ask about it and that\’s where you come in. You can also search for keywords related to topics that your blog covers then answer questions using the information you\’ve found.
This is a very helpful step because instead of just posting links without really having anything valuable to say, you\’re actually providing answers based on what would be most likely asked by someone who has an interest in whatever topic/keyword searched for. This way others might find value in your answers and possibly follow you because of that.
2- Post Questions
Then you can start posting questions of your own based on traffic keywords and start promoting those Q&A\’s via email, Facebook ads or anywhere else where traffic is free. Be sure to use a catchy title and include at least 3-4 tags related to your topic so people browsing them might click your link and learn more about what you\’re offering.
3 – Find Followers
Your account needs enough followers and likes before it will be taken seriously by other users who might give honest opinions/answers about whatever topics you post. You can get followers by asking people who\’ve already answered questions similar to the one\’s you\’re going to be posting. This is why traffic from answering other users\’ questions starts slowly but quickly grows in volume over time.
4 – Follow influencers and topics
To gain more traffic on Quora, exploit the ability of being able to follow topics and other influencers (users with a lot of traffic coming from their Q&A\’s). If you read something interesting that wasn\’t written by an influencer, write your own response and tag whoever posted the question/answer so they\’ll get notified about it. Don\’t exploit this feature too much because if no one else finds value in what you write then people will start unfollowing you after a while just because they don\’t feel like seeing the same questions asked over and over.
5. Ask for traffic
Don\’t be afraid to ask influencers for traffic, especially if you\’ve been following them from the beginning because you knew that they could help you get traffic once your account grew big enough because of traffic coming from steps #1-4. If their content is good enough then traffic will come in at a steady rate for months/years after establishing a connection with influencers.
You can follow these steps even without having traffic because Quora has a lot of other users who are not Q&A marketer\’s, so by doing this people might find what you say interesting even though it isn\’t written about whatever topic came to mind when the question was asked.
I hope this article helped potential traffic generators/marketers and influencers who didn\’t know how to grow traffic through Quora. If there\’s anything I forgot to mention please leave a comment below and I\’ll do my best to answer it as fast as possible.
