The internet is a scary place. With hackers lurking in the shadows, waiting to find a way into your WordPress website, it\’s hard not to be paranoid from time-to-time. But don\’t worry! We\’ve put together 10 ways for you to tell those pesky hackers that they need to back off and give up before you get serious about ending their lives.
 Be careful with your website. It is important to use a secure protocol, like HTTPS. When you do this, no one can read the information on your website even if they have network access to it.
 Make sure that you use strong passwords and make them different from any other password you\’ve used before.
 You can also try using a password manager so that people cannot see what your passwords are if they\’re watching when you type them in a public place with a wireless connection.
 Add CAPTCHA – This is a code that you have to type in on the login form to stop people who are trying to get into your account.
 Block failed login attempts – Use this plugin if someone tries to log in more than 6 times. This will stop them from doing it 6 times.
 Use Two Factor Authentication – If someone has your password, they can still get into your account with two factor authentication.
 Update your website. Hackers like websites that are out of date. This will make it easier for them to hack into your site and take control of it, or give themselves access to your private information.
 Keep WordPress Core up to date by adding this line of code in wp-config.php, since these updates include security patches for the core: define( \’WP_AUTO_UPDATE_CORE\’, \’minor\’ );
 Update WordPress Plugins – When vulnerabilities in plugins are discovered, updates are offered to prevent websites from being hacked. That’s why you want to keep those Plugins updated to the latest version.
10. Set File Permissions for WordPress Files – These are rules that tell how you can read, edit and execute the files on your website. They are especially important if you use someone else\’s computer to host your website because when other people on that computer get hacked, they can gain access to your files and then control your site.
