If you read a lot of articles, watch interesting videos or listen to podcasts then it is very likely that at some point in time you have felt like your life was changing.
However, there’s an enormous misconception out there that gives people the feeling they are growing and improving when their growth is only a fraction of what it should be considering how much content they consume on any given day. There is a reason why those who want to make a change often feel stuck at this point – and it is frustrating!
But here’s what most people don\’t know: You will need to go through 3 stages to create meaningful change. It will require more than just reading up on information.
You will need to first learn = to gain knowledge, then practice = by applying the knowledge and finally take action = applying to real-life situations. Doing that you will turn your experience into insight so that you will eventually have created a true transformation in yourself.
The problem for most people is the fact that they do not move out of Stage 1 – They are continual consumers of content and never reach Stage 2.
Now how do you move to Stage 2? Here are a few unordered thoughts on how to learn new things by applying what you have learned:
- Take notes when you are learning a new skill and review them often.
- Create small goals. Let’s say you have watched videos on how to use the Cheetah Website Builder. Set a goal to create one page a day, applying the skills you have learned by putting them into practice.
- Teach others what you know. This will enforce the newly learned skill.
- Focus on the present goal and do not get distracted. Eliminate the distractions such as Social Media for a set amount of time while working on your goal.
- Stop over-thinking things. When we over-think things. We start to get paralysis of analysis.
- Focus on the present goal and do not get distracted.
Now that you are in Stage 2. You are already a winner because small steps = growth. When you feel that you have enough confidence (not mastered the skill), you need to move to Stage 3. Do not wait until you feel your skill is perfect. You will become better and better as you practice your new skill and push yourself out of your comfort zone.
Stage 3 is all about taking action and making the money. It sounds harsh to talk about money, but that is why you are online and the sooner you understand that the sooner you will be less frustrated. Here are a few tips to get you going in Stage 3:
Sometimes Stage 3 can be a bit overwhelming and that is why we do not take action. We see this huge mountain in front of us and we do not know what challenges are ahead of us, so we rather sit down and just look at the mountain. You have to climb the mountain, experience pain and loss so that you can reach the top. Failures on the way are also winning because you are learning from your experiences. Do not see it as failures but as opportunities.
Your first action should be to journal or plan your action out. Knowing what you want to achieve is important. Let’s say you plan to have a Web Agency where you design websites for small-medium enterprises, you will need to have a systematic approach on how you will be doing this.
You first will need to have a name, create a logo, decide on your brand, create the website and so forth. You cannot go and look for clients if your own house is a mess. These are the types of things you will need to put down on paper so that you can see the bigger picture. Doing this will take that overwhelming feeling away as it will give you a sense of structure and you will be able to focus on one thing at a time.
Once you have the bigger picture, you will need to set deadlines (S.M.A.R.T Goals) for yourself in your calendar. The abbreviation stands for:
- Specific
- Measurable
- Achievable
- Results-focused
- Time-bound
Try to follow your calendar as much as you can, but also be kind to yourself as life does happen and we cannot always be in control of what happens during the day. As long as you are working towards your goals and tick things off that are scheduled. It is all about focusing on one thing at a time.
Lastly, just permit yourself to BE! Seriously, when you permit yourself to be imperfect and you can say: “I am not sure what I am doing but I am going to do it anyway”, things will change.
Now all of this is useless if you are not going to take action…I know this is obvious, but it’s also what most people fail to do.
Builderall offers you all the tools and support you will need to succeed. TAKE ACTION…
