Building Better Habits

You’ve probably heard quite a deal about how positive habits can positively impact your life for the better. But have you ever wondered what your brain is like when it is on habits? How can I build the habits of successful entrepreneurs and automate them in MY brain?

What Is A Habit?

First of all, it’s important to establish that a habit is something which can be good or bad. It is simply considered a habit when it is an action which you perform unconsciously without thinking about it. This is most often seen when you watch someone make their daily coffee, as they probably pour the cream and sugar without even thinking.

The Part Of The Brain That Deals With Habits

Because this automatic behavior can often be quite impressive (think about just how many things you do without thinking in your daily life!) it should come as no surprise that there is a special section of your brain dedicated to these automatic tasks. The section of the brain that deals with habits is the Basal Ganglia, and it was discovered that it manages your habits by a group of MIT researchers.

The Basal Ganglia is made up of two parts, the dorsolateral part of the striatum—which is just a fancy word for movement control, and the dorsomedial striatum. This is where your brain recognizes and forms associations.

To visualize how these work together, think of yourself when you hear a fly buzzing near your ear. You automatically slap it away right? Well it was your dorsolateral part which heard the sound of the fly and sent the information to the dorsomedial striatum. Here, it connected the buzzing sound with the fact that it remembers that it is associated with bugs and it sends this information back to the dorsolateral part, which tells your hand to raise up and swat at it. Pretty cool huh?

How Do You Create Good Habits?

Now that you see how cool it is when your brain starts to do things automatically, you’re probably wondering the quickest way to get your Basal Ganglia working in your favor, instead of against you. That is the unfortunate part about this part of your brain … It takes time to train it. Just as you aren’t born knowing that a buzzing sound by your ear is an animal known as a fly, your Basal Ganglia doesn’t know it either.

According to the researchers at MIT, it can take anywhere from 18 to 264 days to train the Basal Ganglia to react without any input from you. The exact length of time it will take you specifically, will widely depend on the habit you are trying to instill in your brain. Habits such as drinking a glass of water every morning will be much easier to implant than something such as running a mile every day when you wake up. The average time it took to create a habit in their research was 66 days. By 66 days you should be able to perform almost any action mostly without thinking.

Builderall Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence Features

“Builderall has increased the size of their development team this year, and part of the team is dedicated to creating the Builderall AI features of our code in the new launch.”

What does that have to do with the Basal Ganglia or building better habits?

The development team at Builderall has been building those automatic processes for years, and with machine learning, you will be able to build some awesome automatic digital habits and it won’t take years to implant them into your business, either!

If you are not already part of the Builderall revolution, visit the Builderall Software Updates to stay informed of the many new features and updates coming to the Builderall platform this year!

Your brain on habits is an automatic machine that functions without your input in order to make your life easier. Thus, you should do everything in your power to engage this automatic system to do all the hard work for you.

That way you can focus on accomplishing your goals and let your Basal Ganglia do all the work. Don’t forget that this might take some time though, so stick with your process of habit forming every day, and don’t give up! Pretty soon you won’t have to think about the task anymore at all!
