This is a question many ask when they first start their Digital Marketing Journey. I am sure that you also have heard many times that you should pursue your passion and choose a niche to build your brand and yes it is true, but it still does not answer the what!
I will be biased when it comes to Physical Products because that is what makes me tick. Selling a physical product has a ton of advantages over selling digital ones. Why do you ask? Well, Digital Products have their benefits and have their place, but nothing quite beats the broad appeal of selling something tangible that people can hold in their hands and use.
The problem is that selling a physical product often requires a little more thought than going digital. In my post today we will take a look at some easy ways to start a business selling something physical.
Crafts
One option is to sell crafts. If you can paint, make jewelry, or sculpt with clay, then you can turn that skill into a money-making venture. All you need to do is to create your product, take some awesome photos from different angles and even some photos using it, upload it to your website and start sending traffic. Just remember to keep in mind whatever you create must be a product that you can easily make in volume and that does not have a high cost in creating it.
Buy to Sell
Reselling is the oldest form of selling. All you’re doing here is ordering large volumes of something at a relatively low price (this is called wholesale) and then selling those items off individually at a profit. This is an effective way to make an income but involves risk because you have to buy stock upfront. If this is something that you resonate with, my advice would be to start small and reinvest your profit so you can create a fairly reliable business model.
Selling other people\’s products (aka Affiliate Marketing)
I am sure you were wondering if you can sell physical products as an affiliate and the answer is an absolute yes. The difference between selling other people\’s products and buying your own to sell is the method of payment. The one you make a profit with and the other you earn a commission.
Dropshipping
Dropshipping is what many people consider to be the ‘ideal’ business model. Mostly because you do not have to keep the inventory or buy large quantities of stock.
All you need to do is to sell the product, collect the payment, forward the payment and client delivery address to the wholesaler and they will ship the product. Best of all, if you ask, some companies will even stay quiet and allow you to take credit for the manufacturing and add your logo.
Selling Your Own Product
This business model is very exciting but it takes a lot of work to get this off the ground because of the many factors you need to think of before you can launch. For most people, this will mean coming up with an idea, creating a 3D model, and then going to manufacturers to get it made.
